Whilst we were acknowledging and celebrating International Women’s Day a few days ago, Minnie Mouse received a “makeover”!

“She’s one of the most famous characters on earth,” says Stella McCartney of working with a character like Minnie Mouse. “It’s incredible to see how happy she makes everyone, and how she’s in such a positive position to represent women.” To celebrate International Women’s Day and Disneyland Paris’s 30th anniversary, the British designer joined forces with Disney to recreate Minnie Mouse’s outfit for the first time ever. And where else to present the new look in the flesh but the brand’s autumn/winter 2022 show in Paris where Minnie was the guest of honour?
Embodying McCartney’s core values of female empowerment, Minnie Mouse’s revamped ensemble is a tailored trouser suit crafted from responsibly sourced materials. The custom look features a single-breasted jacket in a navy blue print with a blown-up take on the character’s signature black polka-dots in recycled polyester, a matching pair of slouchy tailored trousers, a classic bow in the same fabric, and a pair of sleek black pumps to top it all off. “We worked on a version of this print a few seasons ago, so it’s great that it also became part of the upcycling conversation,” explains McCartney on the design. “I think it’s a wonderful play on Minnie in the fashion world, and she absolutely owns it.”
